During 2008 Velvet Razor went in to W.S.C studios in Bury St Edmunds located in Suffolk to lay down some new tracks in a great studio there. The tracks were “Victims of Love”, “The Shimmering sun” and “Dancing Fires” (this track was live debuted at Guilfest 2005). The sessions were recorded by the 'A' team (3 enthusiastic audio engineers (Nic, Smee, Steve all lead by Thom King). The studio engineers were impressed on how few takes it took to record the songs with perfect takes. This was the first time that Velvet Razor had produced themselves and the results were quite gratifying. The band stayed in a great Bed & Breakfast - The White Horse located in Risby, the landlord - John Madley was a great bloke and a fellow muso, so we all had a good chin wag.

This is a medieval acoustic rock rock piece with alternate tuning guitars,mandolin, medieval style drumming and harmony vocals. Complete with Zepplinesque overtones I wrote this song while working in the USA for six months.It's strange that I should go that far away to write a traditional English style Medieval Folk song. Maybe there was a subliminal yearning for the country of my birth. Something about the medieval, celtic and norse times resonate with me stories by the camp fire, legends and verse captured in song about great heroes, quests, fair lady, dark evil enemies dragons and other mythological creatures Here is the sample (1-minute) MP3 of "All for the love of a fool"

This song is in the classic rock style, it is music with an incessant driving and hypnotic rhythm, music that conjures overtones of "The Doors". Breathy deep vocals that mourn for lost love, with Ray Manzarek of The Doors Style keyboards a persistent blues guitar riff that works its way deep into your brain. Tension building drumming that releases in the climatic choruses. "You don't care" wears it's 60's/70's badge with pride.
