Want to meet the band? You’ve heard the story behind the band, this is all about the musicians themselves

Meet the Band: Dave Kent – Lead Vocalist/Lead Guitarist

VelvetRazorGuilfest2009_bodyimage
Want to meet the band? Dave started playing the guitar at aged 12 and joined his first band while attending Heathside School in Weybridge, Surrey. Dave has played in many semi-professional and amateur bands over the years playing originals, covers, and 50/50 split. Dave Kent founded Velvet Razor in 2002 along with younger brother Will Kent and Gavin Cox. Dave is the main songwriter and visionary of the band. Velvet Razor operates as a benign dictatorship. Though Dave has been involved in several bands over the years, Velvet Razor is still dearest to his heart. As you can see below Dave suffers from G.A.S. (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome) there is no cure but, symptoms can be eased by treatment of infrequent guitar purchases.

Meet the Band: Danny Fabris – Drummer

Danny has been playing in various pub bands on and off for a good few years now. His claim to fame is that he played a gig at Portsmouth’s Victory Stadium, (but he doesn’t like to talk about it 😀 ). He has also played with The Big Jug band (which he also doesn’t like to talk about).

He likes most organic genres of music from country to death metal and everything in between but he is mainly drawn to rock and funk.

Musical influences are:

Led Zepp, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rush, Monster Truck, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Royal Blood, the Bar-Kays, Wild Cherry Gov’t Mule…. and the list goes on. Favourite drummers: Bonzo, Greg Bissonette, Neil Peart, Artimus Pyle, Jeff Porcaro, Buddy Rich, Steve Gadd.

On joining Danny stated he looking forward to Playing with VR as it gave him an opportunity to develop his own style on the VR originals.

Danny joined Velvet Razor in October 2019, replacing our previous brilliant, long-serving (11 years), and long-suffering drummer Paul Tillotson. Big shoes to fill but Danny has more than proved himself a creative and responsive drummer.
