Guilfest 2022 Velvet Razor to play the famous music festival

Guilfest

In the first place, a big thank you to Russell Searle. As well as being our good friend, he’s acting road manager and he’s an all-around good egg. Thanks, Russell for letting the band know that the famous summer festival Guilfest 2022 has returned. What is more, Guilfest is back after an 8-year gap. Actually, we are really proud to be back playing Guilfest. To tell the truth, Velvet Razor has played Guilfest for a great many years. In the first place, from our first wet-behind-the-ears outing in 2005 through to 2012. (We didn’t try to play Guilfest 2014 as our drummer at the time, Paul, was very ill).

In fact, we’ll be back again this year on the second Pro stage Aptly named “The Big mouth stage”. (We weren’t sure if it was going to be sponsored again by ENTS24, but it turns out not this year). In fact, you’re in for a particularly special treat this year. Joining us on the stage, is our old friend (and fellow bandmate, way back from the mists of time) the indomitable J.J.-James Neale. J.J. (of “The Funatics” and “Pandora’s Box” fame).  Indeed J.J., will be on bass guitar duties and doing backing Vocals.

By the way, don’t forget to buy your tickets soon. Indeed, the weather looks set to be glorious. Moreover, there are only 5000 ticket places per day and they have nearly sold out. Come and see the fabulous Peter Hook (from New Order and Joy Division), Dodgy, The Wurzels, and a whole bunch of Tribute bands (Meatloaf, The Rolling Stones, etc). As you know, tribute bands are very much in the vogue at the moment. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Hurry, you can come and get the Guilfest tickets here: Tickets

Guilfest 2022

Velvet Razor is 20 years old

This year is very special to us as Velvet Razor is 20 years old. In fact, we formed Velvet Razor in 2002. It has been quite a journey. Indeed, we’ve played lots of gigs from tiny all the way up to big festivals.

Furthermore, from 2002 we spent 3 years writing, rehearsing, and recording songs. Recording our debut album “The Day the Earth Rocks” on portable multitrack. Also, we started gigs in 2005. Velvet Razor went into their first professional recording studio to record our first EP at Garden Studios in 2006. In fact, recording our second EP “The Wyvern” in Bury-St Edmunds in 2008. Moreover, we released our second studio album “Hex” in 2009. We started using social media first with Myspace (it was great for bands) and then we moved to Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, and currently TikTok.
